kavita & rajan’s wedding

Summary

A beautiful two-day wedding celebration combining both an Indian rustic vibe for day-one and a more traditional black tie event day-two, with twice the organisation but double the celebrations, all hosted in the stunning setting of Billingshurst Farm in one of our magnificent large Sailcloth Tents.

Do take time to read Kavita’s recommendations and top tips below, and the photo gallery, well it is just stunning.

Best Memory of The Day

“It’s so hard to pick one! There was a moment when I finally sat down for dinner on the second day and realised how beautiful it all was and how all our loved ones looked so happy. Having waited for so long to have our big day, it felt really emotional to see that our vision had come to life so perfectly. A lot of our guests said they felt like they were dining in Tuscany or somewhere in Italy.”

DO YOU HAVE ANY TOP TIPS FOR THE DAY:

Enjoy every moment of your big day. It goes by so fast and if you don’t give yourself time to soak it all in it can just pass you by. Also, if you can, go look at all the details and decor before anyone arrives. You won’t get a chance to see it all once everyone is there and you’ll miss out on all the details you put so much effort into planning.

SHOUTOUT TO YOUR FAVOURITE WEDDING SUPPLIER

I can’t choose one so I’ll give you my top three!
Our photographer (Sammy Taylor) and videographer (Harvey White) were exceptional throughout. They not only captured our two special days perfectly, but they were such a joy to work with. They are both so professional but also made us feel so comfortable, especially for the cringey couple shots. Harvey even brought a boombox with him to set the mood! You spend so much time with your photographer/videographer on the day, so you need to vibe with them. We also could not have brought our vision to life without our amazing wedding planner Louise Perry! She is so incredible at what she does and made the two days completely stress-free for us, which meant we could enjoy every moment!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR WEDDING DAY VISION

We were meant to get married in Thailand but due to Covid we had to postpone for two years and move the wedding to the UK. We searched long and hard for a venue that felt like we were abroad, even though we were in the UK, and that’s exactly what we found! High Billinghurst Farm is a blank canvas, so it really gave us the opportunity to make it completely our own!
For the first day we created an Indian festival feel with live street food and live music for both the ceremony and in the evening. The decor was rustic yet chic and we added a splash of colour with the flowers both on the Mandap (canopy for the Indian ceremony) and table decor. The second day was a black-tie event. We set the dinner up outside under a sailcloth tent with loads of candles on long tables to give it a really romantic feel. The colour palette was more neutral this day.

IF YOU HAD YOUR TIME AGAIN WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?

I don’t have any regrets from the actual two days. But if I were to do it all again, I would try to not get so stressed over the planning process. All our suppliers really pulled through in the end and you just have to trust that they will once you give them your vision

WHAT MUSIC FEATURED ON YOUR BIG DAY?

19 August:
  • Violinist playing throughout our Hindu Wedding ceremony (indian love songs)
  • Live band for the evening. Mix of old and new songs to appeal to all age groups attending. We were going for a more chilled vibe as we had a big party planned the next day.
20 August:
  • Saxophonist playing through dinner. Mix of jazz, pop and dance tracks.
  • DJ set up in the barn for the party. Songs to get everyone on the dance floor all night!
