How to Host an Epic Tipi Wedding

Epic Banner

We have recently worked with the National Wedding Show providing our tipis for their Secret Garden VIP lounge at their London shows. With the advent of Pinterest, the rise of the blog and the prevalence of inspirational instagrammers, it is no wonder that an increasing number of couples are choosing to shun more traditional set-ups in favour of something a little different on their big day.

Enter, the tipi…

If you ask us, there really are no other ‘venues’ as visually striking and as versatile as those created by our beautiful range of tipis. Ok, maybe we are a little biased (we’ve been passionate about them since we first laid eyes on one back in 2012) but we really believe that these novel Nordic structures are a brilliant addition to any wedding. From linked giant hats to our lovely little Nimbus, they’re sure to deliver the wow factor.

Attempting a do like this can seem like a daunting prospect but it needn’t be stressful! We’re here to offer some handy hints and tips about how you can host an epic tipi wedding…

Ok, so you’ve fallen in love with the tipi idea (let’s face it, why wouldn’t you?) and you’ve got a site in mind. The first thing to do is give some thought to how many guests you would like to share your day with, as well as considering what else you might want to house under canvas – a bar, band, catering or even a selfie station, for example.

We can then offer some advice as to the best number of giant hats and any other structures that might work for you. Think cosy Kung for a comfy chill out space or the quirky Nimbus for a unique outdoor bar. After that, they’ll come and visit the site you’ve chosen to measure up, make sure it’s going to suit your needs and give you an indication as to where you might want to put other essential services, like a generator and toilets. Download our finishing touches brochure for more information on the extras available.

Good vibes only…

These rustic tents naturally lend themselves to a festival or secret garden theme but they work just as well as the backdrop for a more elegant affair. Think about the type of vibe you want to create and work back from there to build a list of what you think you’ll need to help you achieve it. We have a little black book full of trusted suppliers which we love to share so we encourage our couples to pick our brains if they’re not sure where to start.

Planning just got personal…

Tipis are beautiful in their simplicity so any additions you make can really reflect your personalities.  Choose food you love to eat, incorporate your favourite tipples and book entertainment that you enjoy. Work with your florist to select blooms that give you all the feels and take some time deciding on décor that really makes your eyes light up.

D.I.Y details work brilliantly so don’t be afraid to rope in friends and family to help you, particularly if you’re working to a tight budget!

Thought for the day…

Don’t feel pressurised to produce a Pinterest-perfect wedding, for that way madness lies. You’ll find an overwhelming array of inspiration on social media and in magazines but remember your big day is exactly that, yours, so enjoy it!
