One of our recent weddings took place at White Pond Farm in Henley-on-Thames. Joanna and Daniel share their thoughts below to help inspire you, from location and catering to florists and photographers.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR ORIGINAL WEDDING DAY VISION:
For us, it was so important to celebrate our marriage with our closest friends and family. We wanted the day to be laid back, relaxed and celebratory – with great food and a busy dance floor!
Having attended a fair few weddings in the past, I was eager to have the whole wedding at one site, making the day as seamless as possible. We used the barn for the service and a marquee set in the tree-lined valley for the reception. We chose a location that is rarely used as a wedding venue and completely decorated it ourselves. I was very excited to have a beautiful wedding in a unique and stunning setting.
TOP TIPS ON PLANNING A WEDDING:
- Planning a wedding during a pandemic is no easy task, and like many other couples, we had to change the dates more than once. My biggest tip would be to make sure that the suppliers you work with are understanding, friendly and helpful. It made a whole world of difference when we had to cancel and postpone plans. Every single one of our suppliers was willing to go above and beyond to help. Suddenly navigating wedding planning during Covid felt manageable.
- Understand that not everything will be perfect; things might not go exactly to plan, but enjoy the day and understand that’s what makes the day unique to you and so special. Just enjoy the ride!
- Book an on the day wedding coordinator – it made a whole world of difference and meant that my family and I could enjoy the day rather than be concerned about timings and coordination. It also resulted in the venue being set up before the bridal party arrived and everything looked beautiful!
- Finally, one tip that worked well was staggering the speeches between courses; this meant each speech was really enjoyed and appreciated.
IF YOU HAD YOUR TIME AGAIN, WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?
Something very minor – but I would have shown the train of my dress a little more! I hitched it up far too soon for ease, which meant I have no photos displaying it to the full extent.
SHOUTOUT TO YOUR FAVOURITE SUPPLIER AND WHY THEY DESERVE SUCH ACCOLADE?
All of them, I’d struggle to choose one! But our wedding co-ordinator Lucie Ann was incredible and helped the day flow smoothly.
YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY OF THE DAY?
Every single speech was absolutely perfect, with lots of tears, laughter and prosecco being poured.
