Every year Mike Tindall hosts his ISPS Handa Celebrity Golf Classic Tournament in support of Cure Parkinson’s Charity and the Matt Hampson Foundation at the Belfry Hotel and Resort in Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham.
This year, we’re building our largest ever Sailcloth Tent to house the 350+ celebrities for main gala dinner. It promises to be a fantastic spectacle under this beautiful structure, characterised by the high peaks and wooden poles, reminiscent of classic sailing ships.
The event, which is in its 11th year, hopes to raise record funds for the two charities, and pulls in huge names including Jamie Redknapp, Denise Van Outen, Ronan Keating, James Nesbitt, Brian McFadden and of course, Zara Philips.
We’ve been working with Mike’s team and the team at The Belfry for months to plan and pull together an incredible event space at the iconic golf resort. This is the second time we have worked with Mike Tindall for this charity golf event, and we also do many other corporate events with the Belfry. However, this will be the biggest yet.
The vast and beautiful main marquee is being built by a team of eight, well-experienced crew, led by our Foreman Kem Izzet. We are also providing the lighting, flooring, dining furniture and bars, which is stored and maintained from our warehouses in Capel St Mary, near Ipswich. We’re working with Human Nature Events, another Suffolk business from Bury St Edmunds, who are creating and setting up the internal décor, to transform the space using foraged branches and foliage from around the golf resort. Luxury toilets and generators have been brought in, along with a catering tent and a full field kitchen.
We asked our Foreman, Kem what he thinks about working at such a wonderful, star-studded event; “We treat all our customers the same, and always ensure our tents are presented to the highest quality. However, doing events for celebrities and royals such as this high profile one, does put pressure on and makes us keep our standards high. One of our senior supervisors Curtis George built the impressive four metre round party bar they are using from scratch, and we are chuffed that it is going to be used for such a high-profile event”.
Jenna Ackerley, our Founder and MD said “We’re used to hosting spectacular events, but this one is extra special. Our team are really good at what they do, and it’s a great testament to them that we have secured another booking to this scale with Mike and his team. The celebrity gala in our Sailcloth Tent is going to be epic, as it’s such an iconic structure and oozes glamour. We can’t wait to see the event photos in Hello Magazine when they are published”.
Corporate events are turning to outside structures such as Giant Tipis and Sailcloth Tents to offer something different compared to indoor events. These spectacular tents draw a crowd, make an impression, and look fantastic. They certainly give the wow factor that hosts are looking for. We’re returning to The Belfry twice this summer for other big events and have a busy booking’s calendar of events across the South and East of England.
We always suggest, if the space is available, mixing tent styles to create the ultimate party atmosphere. ‘A Giant Tipi sitting next to a Sailcloth Tent is the ultimate statement in our book’ said Hels, Head of Ops at Events Under Canvas.
